Turn the page…

Bob Seger. 1976. Hard to believe this iconic song is 50 years old. For those of you near MY age, you can hear the words NOW. Just close your eyes. The chorus begins with, “Oh, here I am…on the road again.” Close your eyes. Do you hear it?

It is that time of the year. end of one, beginning of another. Turn the page. Close one chapter, beginning the next. Can’t go back. What happened in the past is…gone.

This time last year I wrote about being resolute. Determined. Goals. Knowing that the journey IS the success, not necessarily the outcome. Case in point: I said I was determined to lose the 25lbs I’d gained over the previous 3 1/2 years. Looking only at the numbers, I failed. I have only lost 10 pounds this year. What a loser!(no pun intended). Wrong. I won! My overall health has improved so much. I will end up walking roughly 3.6 million steps this year. I’m down almost 2 pant sizes. Playing golf(walking with a push cart) weekly, during spring, summer and fall. Riding my bike, etc. I feel good. THAT is the victory. Amen!

So, as I look forward to 2026 and I turn the page, what WILL I do? What will YOU do? I encourage you to write those goals and aspirations down. Say them out loud to your spouse, best friend, someone you can be accountable to. There is power in that. Here’s a few things I will do in 2026:

  1. I will lost those last stubborn pounds.
  2. I will have a better morning routine, in my daily walk with God
  3. I will give more of my time towards volunteering
  4. I will retire and NOT look back…only forward
  5. I will publish my 2nd book
  6. I will continue this blog(as long as you want to continue reading it)

My encouragement to you is this: turn that page. Have some goals(remember, the success is in the journey), move forward. Also, call a friend(don’t text them). Have coffee with friends, often. Laugh(a lot), cry, when needed(real men DO cry). Turn the page. I love you.

Be well,

Jeff
